With the case against the defendant thrown out by the judge after the events inside the courtroom with the superhero Titania, Jennifer Walters not only has to deal with her secret identity being public knowledge but she is also fired as Deputy Attorney with the case lost.
Jennifer tries to find more work but is turned down after each interview by her potential employers who fear her superpowers and her now public persona, She-Hulk, will get in the way of being a Lawyer. Even at the Walters’ family dinner she can’t escape the shame of losing her job or gossip of her alter ego as the She-Hulk from the uncle, aunty and cousin.
As Jennifer starts looking for alternative careers outside law and she reaches a low ebb, she is offered a glimmer of hope from an unlikely source. Holden Holliway, the senior partner of the law firm GKL and H, offers Jennifer a new position after he was impressed with the case she built against him before he declared a mistrial. Jennifer is to head up the new Superhero Division.
She arrives to her new position in high spirits as she retains Nikki as her paralegal, but things are tempered when Holden informs her that she must carry out all her duties in the new role as the She-Hulk and that her first case is a parole hearing for the one and only Emil Blonsky aka Abomination.
