In 2018, two Black Widows, Yelena and Sonya, in an attempt to deprogram Anna, a former Black Widow who was already free of her programming. But before Anna can recruit Yelena as a contract assassin, Yelena is “snapped” out of existence in her bathroom only to return to the same spot (just with different décor) 5 years later.

In the present, Kate Bishop returns to her mother’s house after Clint Barton’s refusal to allow her on his mission, and informs Eleanor about Jack Duquesne’s shell corporation, leading to him being arrested. Kate heads back to her apartment to salvage her fire-damaged belongings where she finds Yelena and her dinner waiting for her.

Over boxed Macaroni cheese Yelena questions Kate Bishop’s loyalty to Clint after only knowing him for a week. After thanking Kate for the chat and evening together she leaves with a warning not to get in the way of her contract to kill Clint Barton.

Clint, in an attempt to protect his family, puts back on the Ronin suit and arranges a meeting with Maya Lopez at the auto shop where he killed her father. He takes out the Tracksuit Mafia and gets embroiled in a fight with Maya, but manages to incapacitate Maya before he unmasks himself to convince her to end her vendetta and stop pursuing his family.

He also reveals that he was tipped off by an informant working for Maya’s Father’s boss who wanted her father dead. Bishop returns to assist Barton against Maya and helps him escape. Lopez does not believe Barton at first, but later questions Kazi, who she suspects of knowing more information.

The next day, over breakfast Yelena sends Kate a text that reveals that she was hired by her mother to kill Barton and that Eleanor is working with Maya’s “uncle”, the Kingpin.
