This time on Defenders TV Podcast we discuss Daredevil Cut Man, Episode 2 of the Netflix Daredevil series.

In this episode also written by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, The Cabin in the woods) and directed by Phil Abraham (Orange Is The New Black, Mad Men) Matt is injured while in hot pursuit of a gang of kidnappers who force him to seek the help of a trained professional. We are introduced to Clare (Rosario Dawson) a nurse on her night off from the emergency room who treats Matt Murdock’s external wounds and uncovers some internal wounds leading back to his father.  Meanwhile Karen Page (Deborah Ann-Woll) seeks comfort from her new co-worker Foggy Nelson (Eldon Henson) with a night out on the town. Daredevil Cut Man also includes a jaw dropping one-take fight scene that has to be seen to be believed. We are highly impressed with the fight choreography in this episode.

Hi guys, it’s me again! One more this was an excellent talk. You always cover the thinks that I like about the episodes, and even the ones that I don’t like. I was really impressed while I was watching to see that they kept Karen’s bruises, it’s something so small but that I love. And I had the same feeling as you guys did! I thought: “How is Murdock going to explain that terrible shape to his friends tomorrow”, it’s one of the gags of 2003 movie actually, “the walked into a door” and the dog stuff (I was really careful to don’t add any spoiler to this comment. Just t make it clear, this was about the 2003 movie 8D).
Did you notice that Clair shows where to put the knife on the guy’s faces (haha) touching Daredevil’s face, not the guys? This is also small but it is so interesting, because Clair isn’t still sure who Matt abilities works, so she does what you are supposed to do if you are giving instructions to a visually impaired person. She is a nurse, she is thought this kind of stuff. It was beautiful.
I like how you talk the cinematic influence of the episodes. I’m not so keen to cinema, but I had a felt some influence of old boy on this episode I don’t know why, or is it just me? I didn’t get the reference for pub fiction at first! Thanks so much for pointing it out!
    Wow… I wrote a lot…. Here is a link for a Irish potato: http://i.imgur.com/ag6Ifyo.gif

Thanks for the feedback Rose. Glad to hear your enjoying the episodes. Really good catch on Claire’s instruction to Matt. We didn’t catch that one. Love the Irish Potato 🙂
